OUR VALUES:
At Colibrí Journeys, we value taking care of the precious cultures and environments of Perú and the world. We also believe in the incredible learning, connection, and personal transformation that can come from experiencing another culture. The more you are able to immerse yourself in the sensations, conversations and rhythms of a different way of being, the more you open doors in your own way of life. Colibrí Journeys strives to create experiences and interactions that allow us all to exchange and enhance lives in an equitable and respectful way. Our trips are designed to facilitate you enjoying the journey of a lifetime, while having a positive impact on each person and place we touch. All guides and cultural practitioners are local indigenous people deeply rooted in ancient practices and enthusiastic about sharing their valuable lessons with us. We learn together about ancient Andean philosophies and vibrant living traditions that are essential aspects of humanity and our relationship to nature. All group meals eaten-out will be at restaurants that support organic farms, and/or social causes such as healthcare and education in the region. We engage in conversations with community members to understand what their needs and dreams are for the future; and then support them in attaining those goals. We volunteer, make regular donations to local organizations, and engage our friends in dialogues about how to live healthy, fulfilling lives, take care of our communities, and heal the planet. We believe in being a bridge between cultures which allows travelers to give the best of themselves in exchange for sharing in the potent landscape, beautiful lives, and innate wisdom of local Peruvians. One of our long term goals is to provide scholarships to empower lower income families to be able to join the adventure; and financial and logistical assistance for Peruvian families who wish to visit us in return. Please join us in this cross-pollination of cultures in the spirit of celebrating and nurturing the diversity of life. |
INCLUDED IN YOUR TRIP:
All transportation to and from the Cusco Airport, and to each group activity and destination will be covered by Colibri Journeys, who partners with a trustworthy local family’s taxi service. All lodging will be at locally owned hostels, each in a beautiful location removed from the bustle of town. Most of them have complete kitchens (with filtered water), and beautiful gardens, and all provide comfortable rooms, hot showers, and caring staff. *Our price is based on a double occupancy rate, meaning two people share each room. If a guest wishes to have their own room, or there isn’t another group member to share one with, there will be an additional cost of $400. A breakfast of delicious fruits and juices, coffee, tea, local bread, homemade yogurt, and farm fresh eggs will be provided at each hostel. The welcoming dinner, culinary lesson, and all picnic lunches shared by the group will also be included on the days when we are out hiking the sacred sites, or visiting families in the weaving village. Most mornings begin with a one-hour spanish lesson to prepare us with the vocabulary we will be using each day. Entry into all museums, sacred archeological sites, tour guides, and group activities, such as: hot-springs, botanical gardens, and the Despacho Ceremony, are all covered as a part of Colibri Journeys. **We strive to uplift local families by paying above-average egalitarian wages, and finding hostels that provide empowering services (such as healthcare for their employees), and opportunities to their communities (like free after-school programs, alternative healing, and art classes).** If you intend to arrive early or stay beyond the Colibrí Journeys dates, we can provide you with a list of local contacts, resources, and volunteer opportunities for further exploration- there are so many incredible ways to go deeper once you are in this beautiful place. |
